African Rooibos Red Tea from Twinings
A naturally caffeine-free, antioxidant-rich herbal tea with a distinctive reddish colour and a pleasantly sweet flavour. The authentic Rooibos (pronounced roy-boss) plant is only grown in the Western Cape area of South Africa.
Dutch settlers to the Western Cape area (probably beginning sometime in the 1700s) used the leaves as an alternative to expensive black tea that had to come by sea from Europe. (no ZipEx back then)
The Rooibos plant is harvested in summer, fermented, and then dried in the sun until it reaches a deep mahogany red colour. Rich in antioxidants, and caffeine-free, Twinings African Rooibos Herbal Red Tea is great to drink with lunch or in the afternoon. Serve it as you would black tea.
